The Dream of Ding Village takes place in rural China, in a town so poor they only have three roads. Looking for cash, the villagers begin plasma intake centers. However, using the same bloody needles and tools causes the AIDS virus to become rampant among citizens. One man will become head of the so called 'Blood Boom', and ruin everyone's lives- given, they are short lives- in the process. This novel also includes beautiful countryscapes, incredible sorrow, love, and desperation. Yan Lianke's 2006 book is known as his best work, and is considered a 3.92 according to Goodreads.com.
